The way Audi's RS 3 sedan is able to handle gobs of mods and extra power, you'd think it was designed for drag racing. We've seen tons of videos of modified RS 3s and mechanically similar TT RSs stomping competitors in quarter-mile races with just a few simple mods. This one, built by Iroz Motorsport in Las Vegas, Nevada, just set the record for quickest RS 3 in the quarter-mile.
If this particular RS 3 looks familiar to you, it should. It's the same exact car Iroz brought to race against Ken Block's 1400-horsepower Hoonicorn in one of Hoonigan's drag racing videos shot last year. It's worth noting that this 1000-horsepower Audi actually beat the Hoonicorn in one of the runs (before ultimately losing in a best two out of three competition).
With all that power and a set of fat drag radials, it was able to record a 7.989-second quarter-mile pass this past weekend at Famoso Raceway in McFarland, California, with a trap speed of 172 mph. That makes it the quickest and fastest RS 3 to ever run the quarter-mile.
